Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind the cheesy grin of the man or his ability to run very fast (Mr Cruise ALWAYS runs a lot in his films). But the films were based on a series of books and the character of Reacher centred around him being a huge guy who was fast. Huge. The author (Lee Child) says “Jack Reacher’s famous physical qualities are based on [hi]s playground memories as a child". He stated, "I was huge as a kid and Reacher's stature is me translated as a kid. I enjoyed being bigger and fighting shamelessly.
It comes up in all the books and is a cardinal trait. In the books Jack Reacher is 6 foot 5. Tom is 5 foot 6 or so.

Hollywood… you could have chosen someone like Armie Hammer. He’s 6, 5. Additionally in the pic below we’ve got Jesse Eisenberg, about the same size as Tom. Who looks more physically imposing in the pic below?
