Imagine being the son of one of New York’s wealthiest men. Your father is easily one of the city’s largest landlords, and he’s fabulously rich. He wants you to go into business, too, but you’re not cut out for it… you don’t have what he calls “the killer instinct”.
So instead of going into business, real estate, like the absolute shark of a father from whose loins you hail, you decide to follow your true passion… aviation. You go to flight school, and eventually becoming a commercial airline pilot. You marry young, and have two kids. But your father keeps belittling you. Unlike your siblings, you never get “a piece of the action”. And you get cut out of the will, too… you become depressed. Find solace in drinking. Your family treats you like a freak for not following in the family business and holding down a normal civilian job like a peasant.
That’s the story of Fred Trump junior, Donald Trump’s older brother. He died in 1981, of alcoholism. His siblings conspired together to have his Fred’s children and grandchildren disinherited when Fred senior suffered from Alzheimers. They had him change the will and cut them out. He was on top of the clouds… but never on top of the world, financially, despite his close proximity to fabulous wealth.
