I was being seated at my table and the waitress was clearing the extra utensils and glassware. She accidentally dropped a wine glass on the floor and it shattered. A couple pieces of glass got embedded into my lower leg near my right ankle. She apologized and helped me sit down and then carefully took the glass fragments out. My bloody sock and shoe were taken off and she used a couple cloth napkins to put pressure on the wounds.
A few other workers came over plus the manager and helped her by cleaning up the mess. They carried me back to a back employee lounge and sat me down on a sofa placing my injured leg on a coffee table. They got me something to drink and an appetizer while waiting for the paramedics. The waitress came back and apologized again and even wiped my barefoot with a warm cloth.
I ended up needing a few stitches.
I received a gift card in the mail and went back to the restaurant a few weeks later only this time wearing work boots. I asked for the same hostess and she recognized me. I was personally served that evening by her and the manager. Toward the end of my visit, I showed her my scar after taking off my boot and sock.
Since then, the scar is less noticeable in appearance. Up close, you can still see it.
